How to find yourself in the wedding photos

Gather everything in one place first

The simplest step is to stop photos from scattering. When guest photos end up in one shared album instead of ten different group chats, everyone knows where to look. Share one link after the wedding, and mention in the welcome speech where the photos will be.

If you have a photographer, agree in advance when their gallery will be delivered and whether guests will get access. Then you can send both links together, instead of in two rounds that guests easily miss.

Make the photos easier to browse

Without face search, it comes down to order. A gallery in time order makes it easy to jump to the ceremony, dinner or dance floor, and a programme with times helps guests know where to look.

Photos a guest shared themselves are the easiest to find. In Foreveh, a guest sees their own photos in the gallery on the phone they shared from, even before you open the rest of the album.

2. Share the guest album and the photographer’s gallery as two clearly labelled links.
3. Tell guests when the photos are ready so they don’t look too early.

Face search: useful, but sensitive

Face search lets a guest take a selfie and see the photos where their face is recognised. It saves time, but face data is sensitive personal data, and not every guest wants their face analysed. So know how such a feature works before you switch it on — whichever service you use.

1. Is the feature off until you actively turn it on?
2. Does each guest choose to search — and only for themselves?
3. Is the selfie stored, or used only for one search?
4. Is the search limited to your wedding, or is data used across events?
5. When is the face data deleted, and does that happen when you delete the wedding?

Tips for guests

As a guest, the quickest route is often to think about where you were: which table you sat at, when you gave a speech and when you were on the dance floor. Photos taken by the people around you are where you are most likely to appear.

1. Look through the photos from your own table first.
2. Ask your tablemates whether they shared photos — they have often taken pictures of you.
3. Share your own photos too: the couple sees the day from your side, and others find themselves in them.

Respect those who would rather not be included

Whatever you use, some guests don’t want to be photographed or shared. Give them an easy way to say so, and make sure you can hide a photo quickly. In Foreveh you can hide photos and block a guest from your phone.

Remember too that you decide when the gallery opens to guests. It can be wise to look through the photos yourselves first, before everyone has access.
